D. MICHAEL O’DELL (he/him) is a Hell’s Kitchen-based musician, composer, lyricist, and playwright. BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop (composer/lyricist); BerkleeNYC (MA in Writing and Design for Musical Theatre). FACULTY: National Theatre Institute/Eugene O'Neill Center & American Academy of Dramatic Arts (music director/collaborative accompanist/vocal coach). Jazz pianist and piano bar entertainer: The Duplex, Monster Bar, Don't Tell Mama, Stonewall, Townhouse, Fraunces Tavern; Music Director for over 175 productions: In the Mood (National Tour/ dir. Michael is Music Director / Pianist for the Green Room 42 cabaret For Us, By Us Vol. 1. For Us, By Us Vol. 1 is a bold, satirical, and unapologetically Black cabaret celebrating the legacy, joy, and chaos of Black musical theatre, Black culture, and Black music. Rooted in community, storytelling, and pure theatrical energy, it’s basically a cookout… with Broadway vocals, R&B riffs, gospel spirit, and a little bit of organized mess. It’s a satire, a celebration, and a love letter to Black brilliance.
